Deep and dark, this wine unfolds it's complex tones over a half hour or so decanting. Lovely with red meats or tomato sauces. Recommend!

2013 Barboursville Octagon
Octagon has been a very good wine for us and we don't mind the $60 price tag understanding that it's a good bet for a good time. That changed with this bottle.
Whether corked or poorly mixed, there is only one way to describe the first two sips..
BAD
We dumped the bottle. Not a good showing for Barboursville. Talking with friends and family, they had a similar experience with the 2013 release. I'd avoid this vintage.

2012 Fiction Red Wine
Might be ok for a sangria. Awful with dinner alone. Ugh! Like a sweet, jammy soda punch in the face!

2009 Chateau Cheval Brun Saint-Emilion Grand Cru
Dry and gravelly, almost like a Pomerol, but not as breathy. Notes of Cabernet Franc give the wine an earthy undertone. Very enjoyable with a beef dish.
